Production

Materials

Toile Vierge is founded upon an appreciation for existing resources at our disposal, proving one can shop luxuriously and locally. Collection I utilises only deadstock or recycled materials sourced in the UK. From the fine Italian cotton poplin shirt fabric left in the warehouse, threads from my local, family-run haberdashery store, to recycled cotton, non-toxic ink labels.

Logistics

All materials are transported in reused garment bags or boxes via Green Courier. No plastic is used in any part of our process.

Packaging

Packaging and labels are made using recycled materials and parcels are secured with biodegradable tape.

Labour

Toile Vierge manufactures its collections from start to finish here in London, utilising the exceptional local talent and craftsmanship that is on our doorstep.

For our garment production, we work in close collaboration with Making for Change Charity. London College of Fashion run units at Poplar Works and HMP Downview female prison offering skills training and paid work opportunities for female prisoners, empowering community. By offering marginalised women with professional skills in an under-equipped sector, they are offered real work experience and recognised qualifications for the workforce. Our finishings and hand embroidery are completed by a handful of extremely talented Central Saint Martins students, who are paid a London living wage for their work. Further, collaborating with administration at UAL intends to set a precedent of circularity and conscious design amid work study so its talent graduate with an elevated status-quo of responsible production.
